LA GRANJA METHOD© AN ACCELERATOR OF COMPETENCES.

The aim of the La Granja Method© is to train the emotional competences of students, both young and old, and the best way to do so is by means of Outdoor Training or Team Building activities, due to their great impact and the ease with which they serve to move or thrill people of all age groups.

Every activity is designed with a specific purpose in mind, which helps us to achieve the aim we seek. In order to motivate we seek to provoke the feeling of happiness which is the most powerful of all human feelings, by introducing continual challenges and positive stimuli. To promote our Method and achieve results faster we use high performance as designed in the program and the focus of our Emotional Educators on “here and now”. Through the art of asking questions we get students to become conscious of that which is unconscious, and feedback helps them to anchor what they have learned. The use of Metaphores allows us to work from our unconscious and give meaning to what takes place during each activity; these transferences allow us to translate what we have learned to everyday life, both at home and in the classroom. And finally, nature and animals provide a calming effect on the participants, to avert them, for a while, from the rush of everyday life. The Method is being tried on over 18.000 students every year since 2.008 and is based on the theoretical framework of the five emotional competences proposed by Rafael Bisquerra (Bisquerra and Pérez 2007) from the University of Barcelona. These competences are: emotional awareness, emotional regulation, emotional autonomy, social competences and abilities for life and personal wellbeing. The results of the La Granja Method© have been scientifically evaluated and proven.*

*Scientific Study to evaluate the La Granja Method© carried out by the GROP (Educational Psychology Orientation Research Group), from the University of Barcelona (November 2017), using a sample of 132 children and youngsters. The study shows significant quantitative and qualitative changes before and after, in the area of the 5 emotional competences (awareness, emotional regulation, autonomy, competence for life and wellbeing). The study also assesses student levels of anxiety, showing a significant decrease both in sustained anxiety and in anxiety traits.
